The Coach Approach

Lori's weight-loss coaching business The Coach Approach was featured on CBS4's 11pm news last night. You can read the story on their web site. Today she took part in the taping of two Women's View segments that will be airing on the next two Mondays. Not being a woman, I have no idea what they talked about.

More Metallica

Go Sick! Go Sox!YeeeHaaaa! Night two of METALLICA was another top notch show with 11 different songs from night one. We were on the floor for this one so the crowd seemed even louder than night before. Check out the set and a review of night 1 from Boston Globe.
And the Red Sox are up 3 games to none in the World Series. What have we done to deserve such a blessing? Oh yeah, 86 years of heartbreak.

Ready For Some Football?

Patriots Rule!!YeeHaaa! It is FOOTBALL time again! Last time we were at Gillette Stadium it was for the AFC Championship and the Pats slapped Peyton Manning all over the field. Hoping for more of the same tonight as the Patriots unveil their second Super Bowl banner and meet the Indianapolis Colts in the debut NFL game of the year.

One Crazy Summer

Well its been quite a crazy summer so I haven't posted anything for quite awhile. My step father was diagnosed with Frontal Temporal Dementia (FTD) in early June, so we've been away from home every weekend helping out my mom and dealing with dysfunctional families. Have never been so glad to be an only child.

For the next two weeks I'm living in a hotel in Hadley Ma while working on and acting in an independent feature. It is a violent opus called "Chaos Unlimited." My role is 'Head Thug' -- I pretty much just swear a lot, beat people with a bat and get shot in the head. Just my average weekend.

I sure haven't had a chance to see everything, but here is a quick Summer Movie rundown. Caught the documentary METALLICA: Some Kind of Monster yesterday in Boston and loved it. You don't need to know or care about METALLICA to enjoy the film, and if you do have opinions on the band this might change some of them. My comedy hero Will Ferrell has done it again. ANCHORMAN is easily the funniest movie I've seen in some time - probably since ELF. Another funny enjoyable flick was FAHRENHEIT 9/11 - just don't try to tell me its a documentary. Finally THE VILLAGE was a movie I was really looking forward to and really loved... until the very end. Don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say that I felt kind of cheated - but then decided to give the film credit for making me feel that way. So M. Night is still batting a thousand in my book.

Van Halen

Checked out Van Halen last night. It was their second night at the Worcester Centrum and there was no telling these guys hadn't played together in eight years. Everybody was in great shape and voice, very cool stage of the VH logo, and quite a sick light show. I don't know of any other band who seems to have so much fun onstage - nonstop smiles and joking all night. More details.

PitchXchange

Spent the past weekend in NYC at a very cool event - NY PitchXchange. It consisted of seminars and classes on script writing and pitching and actually gave people the chance to pitch ideas to film and television production companies. I went expecting nothing more than the experience, but all my pitches were very well received and each of the four companies I talked to asked for my contact information. I pitched a bunch of reality television ideas and one dramatic feature -- that's all I'll say for now so I don't jinx myself.

Gay Marriage

Lori and I attended a Unitarian Church service today that celebrated the fact that beginning Monday May 17 - gays will be able to marry in Massachusetts. About twenty lesbian couples stood up and told the congregation how long they had been together. It was quite amazing. These woman were not stereotypical lesbians. Many were much older than I ever would have expected. They looked like sweet old grandmothers - in fact they were, but they also had lesbian partners for twenty plus years. In a world with so much hatred, why would we ever dare to outlaw love between two adults.

I must admit that I've had a problem with gay marriage based solely on semantics. Months ago I looked up marriage in the dictionary and it said "the legal union between a man and woman as husband and wife." Now I am ready for that definition to be updated. When so many heterosexual marriages end in divorce -- why not let homosexuals be able to legally marry. Are we afraid that they will do it better?

Fake KISS

Well KISS is doing it again. They are going on tour this summer - but don't fall for it. Last year they toured with someone dressing up as original guitarist Ace Frehley. This summer they've topped that by adding someone pretending to be original drummer Peter Criss. Don't waste your money of this over priced cover band. Paul and Gene, stop the charade!

Metallica Starts Tour

METALLICA kicked off their "Madly In Anger with the World Tour" last night in Arizona. Opening for this leg of the tour are Boston's own GODSMACK. As of yet there are no dates scheduled for New England. Since its been too long since I've seen them last and I'm not willing to wait and see when they'll finally get out here - I'm headed out west to San Francisco to see them Monday March 8th. More..

They have also just launched a new web site http://www.livemetallica.com/ where you can download the audio from each night of the tour.

Another Grammy for Metallica

A big shout out for METALLICA for winning their 7th Grammy Award this past Sunday for 'Best Metal Performance' for St. Anger. The Grammy folks seem to still be trying to make up for giving Jethro Tull the first Metal Grammy instead of Metallica, as METALLICA has won every year since. I'll be seeing them next month in San Francisco. YEAH!

Time for some AF recommendations: Dave Grohl's long incubating all star metal project "Probot" is finally out and is getting raves. It is quite ironic that a guy from Nirvana, the band the pretty much single handily killed off metal, is now paying tribute to it. Also just discovered that one of the best TV shows ever is now available on DVD. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you "Freaks and Geeks".

Super Bowl XXXVIII

Wow, Super Bowl XXXVIII was the most mentally, physically and emotionally draining event I've ever been to. Our seats were great, the flights, parties and people were all great. We went strong for over 24 hours. Here are tons of pictures and details.

Back From California

The morning after the AFC Championship I had to fly to San Jose, CA for work. I didn't have my voice back until Wednesday and it was Hell being out there because nobody has a clue about the Patriots. Thursday I was wearing my Tedy Bruschi jersey and NOBODY knew who Bruschi even was!! At least my rental car wasn't the usually Hyundai or Geo I always get - this time I got a Ford Mustang with Sirius satellite music - so I just cranked up the Hair Nation channel and drove around playing Vice City every night. Now I'm back home amongst true sports fans and 8° temperatures. Oh yeah... we are doing the one day fly in/fly out package for the Super Bowl.

AFC Champions Again

Your New England Patriots are AFC Champions once again! Next stop - Houston Texas for Super Bowl XXXVIII. Patriots Win!!!Amazing what a difference 30 degrees can make. Compared to last weekend, today's game in the snow seemed down right warm. Things seemed promising with snow in the forecast. Things seemed great when the Patriots scored on their opening drive. Things seemed pretty awesome when the Colt's first play was an offsides penalty because we made so much noise. Things were going totally sick and stayed that way when the Colts' first drive ended in an interception by Rodney Harrison. Oh yeah - and Ty Law had three interceptions before the day was over. And know what happens to a team who makes a big stink about how they haven't even punted in the playoffs? When it comes time to punt - they totally screw it up and the Patriots get a safety.
Final score Patriots 24, Colts 14. Check out the photos.

Ice Bowl

Well after all the hype the Patriots game wasn't even all that cold. Of course I was wearing more clothes than I ever had before in my life, including a brand new down parka I bought just hours before the game. The game was a great tough battle and the Titans gave it all they had - which of course wasn't enough. The crowd was the most boisterous yet at Gillette and made a ton of noise for some true home field advantage. Even the usually lame club seat folks around us stayed outside for the whole game (Tom Brady even commented on noticing that in his post game press conference). We even had a couple shirtless psychos in our sections. We got to the stadium just after 4pm, and immediately went inside to the clubhouse for some indoor tailgating. Just before kick off there was a surprise mini-concert from BOSTON - they did the National Anthem and Rock & Roll Band.

And just to prove that everything is going our way and we are destined for another Super Bowl appearance. At midnight while about to leave Gillette Stadium I realize my car keys are missing. While I go back outside to our seats just one notch below panic, Lori heads back to where we hung out in the Club before the game and there are my keys just sitting on a table. I'll have to buy a lucky key chain in Houston. Check out photos and mayhem. This was the toughest game the Patriots will have in this playoff run - we always beat the Colts, who we will face next Sunday in the AFC Championship game. WooooHoooo!

NFL Playoff Time

Patriots - TitansAre you ready for some FOOTBALL!!!!!!?????

The Tennessee Titans have no idea what they are in store for - and I'm not just referring to predictions of temperatures at kickoff being a between 0 and 5° and a low of -13° with the wind chill by the end of their loss. Pats are destined for a Super Bowl return - and we will be going with them.
